On this day in 1977, “Blinded By The Light” reached the top of the billboard singles chart for Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, achieving much greater success than the song’s writer, Bruce Springsteen.  

Today in 1971, the third studio album by English progressive rock band Yes, ‘The Yes Album’, is released.  It was the band’s first album to feature guitarist Steve Howe and included the hits “Yours is No Disgrace”, “Starship Trooper”, and “I’ve Seen All Good People.”  

And ac/dc singer Bon Scott died while on tour in London, on this day in 1980 from excessive alcohol consumption.  He was just 33 years old.
