On this day in 1983, Pete Townshend officially announced the end of the Who, just under a year after their ‘farewell’ show. However, the band would be back on the road in 1989 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Tommy.  

Creedence Clearwater Revival had a gold rush on this day in 1970. They were awarded 5 Gold Albums and 5 Gold Singles that day for selling half a million copies of each.  

And Happy Birthday to Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, who turns 73.
