Today in 1970, Jimi Hendrix hosted the grand opening of his Electric Lady Studios in New York City. In truth, he’d already spent a few weeks laying down tracks while the construction was being finished. The studio is still in operation today.
Also in 1970, Eric Clapton met Duane Allman at a charity gig in Florida. The two mutual fans became fast friends–Eric invited Duane to sit in with his new project, Derek & The Dominos.
And today in 1968, The Beatles released “Hey Jude,” backed with “Revolution,” the first release on the band’s new label, Apple Records.
