Today in Rock History with Chris DeCarlo

July 26 |

It’s a tragic day in rock and roll history: on July 26, 1977, while on tour in the US, Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant received the news that his 6 year old son Karac had died of a viral infection. The rest of the tour was cancelled, which turned out to be their last in the US.

In 1986, Peter Gabriel was #1 on the US singles chart with “Sledgehammer.” The song’s video would win numerous awards, and become the most played video ever on MTV.

And a very Happy Birthday to Mick Jagger, The Rolling Stones frontman, who’s turning 79 today.
