Today in 1983, the band Bon Jovi signed to Mercury Records, where they’d go on to a Hall of Fame career. The name wasn’t their first choice—they were talked out of calling themselves “Johnny Electric.”  

On this day in 1971, Jethro Tull received a gold record for selling a half a million copies of their classic album, Aqualung.  

And Happy birthday to Blondie front woman and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Debbie Harry, born today in 1945.
