Today in Rock History with Chris DeCarlo

June 29 |

Pink Floyd released their second album, “A Saucerful of Secrets” today in 1968. Containing their last Syd Barrett sessions, and the first David Gilmour recordings, it’s the only album to have all five Pink Floyd members.

In 1969, the Jimi Hendrix Experience performed their final concert together, playing the closing set at the three-day Denver Pop Festival.

And Happy Birthday to drummer Ian Paice, the only member of Deep Purple who’s been on every one of the band’s albums and tours. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer turns 74 today.
