The Who’s film “Quadrophenia” opened nationwide today in 1979, featuring Sting of the Police in a small role. None of the Who appear in the film, but they remixed several tracks and recorded three new songs.
This day in 1969, The Rolling Stones’ film “Sympathy For The Devil” premiered in San Francisco. The bizarre quasi-documentary centered on the band rehearsing and arranging the classic song in the studio.
And on a sad note, keyboard virtuoso Keith Emerson of Emerson Lake and Palmer, who passed away in 2016, would have been 76 today.
