On this day in 1968, The Jimi Hendrix Experience recorded “Voodoo Child (Slight Return)” based on a jam they’d done for TV cameras the day before. It became one of Jimi’s signature songs.

Today in 1976, the first U.S. tour by Paul McCartney and Wings began in Fort Worth, Texas. Many of the 31 shows on the tour were recorded for their three-record set, “Wings Over America.”

And in 1980, Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band started a six week run at No.1 on the US album chart with ‘Against the Wind’.
