Today in 1975, David Bowie announced he was retiring from Rock and Roll…for the second time. Just like his 1973 announcement, he was back in the studio a few months later.
Happy birthday to John Kay, founder and guitarist of Steppenwolf. The “Born to Be Wild” singer is 78 today.
And Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” was back on the album chart on this day in 1993, after Capitol Records released a 20th anniversary edition. In the 70s and 80s, it had already spent an astounding 14 years on the charts.
