October 25

In 1964 The Rolling Stones made their first appearance on the “Ed Sullivan Show,” and hundreds of rowdy teens mobbed the theater to get a glimpse. The crowd was so unruly, Ed vowed never to let the band on the show again. But he did, less than a year later.

This day in 1968, saw the release of the third and final studio album for The Jimi Hendrix Experience, “Electric Ladyland.” The double album would be the band’s only #1.

And birthday greetings go out today to Jon Anderson, founding member and lead singer of Yes. He turns 76.
