The band called The Herd formed on this day in 1966, featuring Stephen Stills, and Neil Young. A short time later, they decided to change it to Buffalo Springfield since the name was already taken by a band from Britain.
In 1967, The Jeff Beck Group made their live debut in London. The former Yardbirds guitarist’s band featured Ron Wood on bass and Rod Stewart on vocals.
And in 1983, a former Hell’s Angels member testified that there was a contract out on Mick Jagger’s life. It dated back to things Jagger said about the Angels’ actions at the tragic Stones concert at Altamont
