Eric Clapton’s hit “After Midnight,” written by JJ Cale, was released on this day in 1970.  

In 1962, The Beatles made their television debut. They drove 70 miles round trip between lunchtime and night shows at the Cavern Club, to play “Love Me Do” live on a local TV show in Manchester.  

Santana hit #1 on the album chart on this day in 1999 with “Supernatural,” his first chart topper since 1971. It also won nine Grammy awards and has sold more than 21 million copies worldwide.
