Today in 1971, Black Sabbath released their second album, “Paranoid” in the U.S., four months after it came out in their home country. The label held it back since their debut was still on the charts over here.

A couple albums were certified platinum for hitting one million copies sold today: Led Zeppelin earned one in 1980 for “In Through The Out Door,” and the Eagles got the same honor for “Eagles Live” a year later.

And in 1970 Max Yasgur’s neighbors sued him for $35,000 in property damage. It was Yasgur who had allowed the Woodstock festival on his farm in upstate New York the year before.
