There are two birthdays on this day in rock history – Led Zeppelin bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones turns 76 today…and Stephen Stills, of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and sometimes Young, celebrates his 77th

On this day in 1970, The Beatles made their last recording together. George Harrison’s “I Me Mine” was filmed, but never recorded, during the “Let It Be” sessions, so Paul, George, and Ringo did a studio version. Behind the scenes, John had already left the band.

On this day in 1982, Bruce Springsteen began recording the songs that would become his “Nebraska” album.
