On this day in 1967, Jimi Hendrix released his second album, Axis: Bold as Love in the UK. It wouldn’t come out in America for another month, since his debut was still high on the album chart.
In 1970, John Lennon released his single, “Happy (Christmas) (War Is Over)” in the US. Originally a protest song about the Vietnam war, it’s become a holiday standard in the years since.
