September 11 |

Twenty years ago today, every tour in America stopped cold when all planes were grounded nationwide following the attacks of September 11th, 2001. Paul McCartney was on the runway at JFK Airport in New York City, and could see the smoke and flame from the towers. His admiration for the bravery of New York’s firefighters and police officers led Paul to organize “The Concert For New York” to benefit the victims and rescue workers. The Who, David Bowie, Elton John, and many others would also pay tribute with their performances the following month.
