Elvis Presley made his first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show on this day in 1956. Unfortunately, due to the way he shook his hips on stage, the TV audience only saw Elvis from the waist up.
Concert promoter Sid Bernstein bought a $20,000 full-page ad in the New York Times today in 1979 directed at The Beatles. He was trying to convince John, Paul, George & Ringo to reunite for a benefit concert.
And record releases today include the Eagles’ single “Witchy Woman” in 1972….and John Lennon’s “Imagine” LP in 1971.
