In 1985 Dire Straits hit the top of the album charts for the first time with “Brothers in Arms,” featuring the #1 hit “Money for Nothing.”
Today in 1976, George Harrison was found guilty of “Subconsciously Plagiarizing” the Chiffon’s 1963 hit, “He’s So Fine” for 1970’s “My Sweet Lord.” Though the court said it was unintentional, he still paid over a half-million dollars to the original publishers.
And today is Van Morrison’s birthday. The singer and songwriter of hits like “Moondance,” “”Wild Night,” “Brown Eyed Girl,” and more is 76 years old.
