Liverpool teenager George Harrison joined The Quarrymen on this day in 1959. Other members included leader John Lennon and bassist Paul McCartney.
Seven years later, in 1966, The Beatles played their last live concert ever . . . a huge stadium show at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. They confined their work to the studio from that point on.
And today in 1970, The Kinks released their single, “Lola.” The song went to #1 in 6 different countries, as well as hitting #2 in the UK, and #9 in the US.
