In 1966, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, and Eric Clapton announced the formation of “Cream.” The band was only together for two years, but provided the blueprint for every rock “Power Trio” that would come after.
In 1982, Peter Gabriel hosted the first W.O.M.A.D.* festival: a 3 day concert whose title stood for “World Of Music And Dance.” The ambitious event lost money, but Gabriel’s former Genesis bandmates would help Peter by reforming for a benefit the following October.
And today is birthday number 69 for drummer Stewart Copeland of the Police.
