Today in 1964, some rock and roll icons got to meet their idols. The Rolling Stones recorded “It’s All Over Now” and other songs at Chess Studios in Chicago. They also got to meet blues legends Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, and Chuck Berry.
In 1966, Steve Marriott, lead singer of The Small Faces, collapsed while performing on the TV show “Ready Steady Go!” The group cancelled a week’s worth of gigs while he recovered from exhaustion.
And in other close calls, it was 1986 when Grateful Dead leader Jerry Garcia slipped into a diabetic coma for five days. He would recover, but the band cancelled the remainder of their tour.
