In 1975, Elton John’s ninth studio album, ‘Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy” became the first LP ever to enter the US charts at #1, where it stayed for seven weeks.
The short-lived supergroup Blind Faith made their first concert appearance on this day in 1969, with a free show in London’s Hyde Park. More than 100,000 gathered to see Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Ginger Baker and Rick Grech.
And in 1963, the Rolling Stones made their first TV appearance on a British series called “Thank Your Lucky Stars.” They played their first single, Chuck Berry’s “Come On,” released the same day.
