Today in 1968, John Lennon and Paul McCartney made their only appearance on the Tonight Show. But with Johnny on vacation, the guest host–former baseball great Joe Garagiol–wasn’t much of a fan. He asked which one was Ringo.  

Happy birthday to David Byrne, leader of Talking Heads, who’s 69.  

And Atlantic Records celebrated their 40th anniversary at New York’s Madison Square Garden today in 1988. The highlight of the show was a reformed Led Zeppelin featuring John Bonham’s son Jason on drums.
