On this day in 1980, bassist Bill Wyman announced he would quit the Rolling Stones on their 20th anniversary in 1982. He changed his mind; he retired just after their 30th anniversary, in 1993.  

In 1990, Freddie Mercury made his last public appearance with Queen at the Brit Awards in London, when the band accepted the “Outstanding Contribution to Music” award.  

And celebrating his birthday today, singer and keyboardist Dennis DeYoung, formerly of Styx, who’s 74.
