Don Felder, born and raised in Gainesville, was fired from the Eagles on this day in 2001. A flurry of lawsuits followed on both sides, but finally, an out of court settlement ended his 24-year tenure in the band.
On this day in 1982 Van Halen entered the charts with their cover of the Roy Orbison classic, “Oh, Pretty Woman.” Joan Jett did, too, with the record that would make her a star, “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll.”
And finally, happy birthday to Guns ’N Roses frontman Axl Rose, who turns 59 today.
