Men At Work were at the top of the singles and the album charts in both America and Britain on this day in 1983. It was the first time anyone had done that since Rod Stewart in 1971.
On this day in 1992, Blues legend Willie Dixon died of heart failure in Burbank, California. One of the main writers at Chess Records, he was a huge influence on the Stones, Zeppelin and many others.
And a battle-of-the-bands took place on this day in 1967 between The Who and The Jimi Hendrix Experience at London’s Saville Theater. Future Queen guitarist Brian May was lucky enough to be in the crowd.
