November 28
November 28th, 1974, was Thanksgiving that year, so John Lennon joined his friend Elton John on stage at Madison Square Garden. Elton had bet Lennon that “Whatever Gets You Through the Night” would hit #1, and if he won, they’d perform it together on stage. Making good on that bet would be John Lennon’s last live concert appearance.
And in 1968, during their first North American tour, Deep Purple started a four-night run at San Francisco’s Fillmore West.
