IN 1984, VAN HALEN WAS AT THE TOP OF THE CHARTS WITH “JUMP.” THE SYNTH- BASED SONG WAS A DEPARTURE FOR THE GUITAR-DRIVEN BAND, AND IT BECAME THEIR FIRST AND ONLY #1 SINGLE.  

AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TOM SCHOLZ, THE MIND AND GUITAR BEHIND BOSTON WHO TURNS 76 TODAY.
