A couple of sad notes on this day: drummer Eric Carr of Kiss, the original replacement for Peter Criss, died of cancer in 1991 at age 41.
Also in 1991, Freddie Mercury died of AIDS, a day after he confirmed he had the disease. The Queen frontman was 45 years old.
On this day in 1966, The Beatles were back in the studio for the first time since their final live concert three months earlier. Ready to start their new adventure, they began with a John Lennon song, “Strawberry Fields Forever.”
