On this day in 1981 Motley Crue formed when bass guitarist Nikki Sixx began rehearsing with drummer Tommy Lee. Guitarist Bob “Mick Mars” Deal and singer Vince Neil would complete the lineup a few months later.
Today in 2001, after failing to convince his bandmates to take a year off so they can all pursue side projects, bass player Jason Newsted leaves Metallica. Robert Trujilo eventually replaces him.
