On this day in 2005 Roger Daltrey, lead singer of the legendary rock band, The Who, was named a commander of the order of the British empire by Queen Elizabeth II.
Today in 1989 Nirvana signed a one-year recording contract with sub-pop records. The Seattle based label began in the early ’80s as a fanzine (called subterranean pop).  

And on New Year’s Day 1976 Led Zeppelin lead singer Robert Plant walks for the first time following a horrible car accident in Greece the previous year.
