Jimi Hendrix had his only #1 on the British singles charts today in 1970 with “Voodoo Child (Slight Return),” the final track on Electric Ladyland, just two months after he passed away.  

In 1981, Queen and David Bowie were at #1 across the pond with their one-off collaboration, “Under Pressure.”  

And in 1995, The Beatles’ “Anthology 1,” the first in a series of unreleased and rare tracks, hit stores. It sold over 800 thousand copies in its first week.
