August 7 |

Fleetwood Mac welcomed its first female member on this day in 1970: Christine McVie, the then-wife of Mac bassist John McVie. Prior to joining, she recorded a critically acclaimed solo LP as Christine Perfect.

A dozen years later in 1982, Christine and the rest of Fleetwood Mac’s most famous lineup hit #1 on the album charts with “Mirage.”

And today in 1980, John Lennon and Yoko Ono began recording sessions for “Double Fantasy” at The Hit Factory in New York City.
