The Police started an 8 week run at #1 in the US with “Every Breath You Take.” The song would eventually win Sting and the band two Grammy awards.  

A couple of rock and roll icons were born today: Mitch Mitchell, drummer for the Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1947, and iconic AC/DC frontman Bon Scott, in 1946.  

And in 1995, The Grateful Dead played their last show with founder Jerry Garcia at Chicago’s Soldier Field. Jerry would die of a heart attack the following month.
