Today in 1999, Eric Clapton sold the guitar he wrote and recorded “Layla” on for nearly half a million dollars. It was one of hundreds of guitars he sold to raise money for his “Crossroads” rehab clinic in Antigua.

In 1972, The Rolling Stones concert in Fort Worth, Texas, was filmed for the documentary, “Ladies and Gentlemen, the Rolling Stones.”

And birthdays today include Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac who turns 75…and guitarist Jeff Beck, who celebrates his 78th.
