The Beatles scored their 13th #1 album when ‘Abbey Road’ topped the charts today in 1969. Over 50 years later, it’s still their best selling single LP of original material, at over 12 million copies.
The Rolling Stones released their second single on this day in 1963, “I Wanna Be Your Man,” a Lennon-McCartney tune they wrote for the Stones. The Beatles version, with Ringo singing, came out later that month.
