On this day in 1969, guitarist and founding member Brian Jones left The Rolling Stones. In truth, he was fired by Jagger and Richards, who agreed to pay him an annual salary to keep it a secret. Sadly, he died a month later.  

In 1974, Paul McCartney and Wings went to the top of the singles chart with “Band on theRun,” his third #1 solo single.  

And happy anniversary to Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa, who were married today in 1991 at their home in Beverly Hills, California.
