On June 6, 1962, a new pop group from Liverpool, England called the Beatles auditioned for EMI record producer George Martin. Though he was unimpressed with their music at first, their personalities won him over.
June 6, 1965, The Rolling Stones released (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction in the US. It would go on to become their first #1 single in America.
And on this day in 1979, Def Leppard played at Crookes Workingman’s Club in their hometown of Sheffield, England. The teenage band was reviewed in the UK music paper “Sounds” which led to their recording contract.
