On this day in 1978, after being delayed in court for almost two years, Bruce Springsteen released “Darkness on the Edge of Town,” the follow-up to his breakthrough, ”Born to Run”  

On this day in 1989 Rolling Stone bassist Bill Wyman married model Mandy Smith. He was 52, she was 19. They would divorce 2 years later.  

And the Rolling Stones began their first American tour on this day in 1964, with a concert in Lynn, Massachusetts. The late Charlie Watts, their drummer, was celebrating his 23rd birthday as well.
