Today in 1969, John and Yoko staged their second “Bed-In-For-Peace,” this time at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal. On the final day, a portable tape recorder was wheeled into the room, and everyone joined in on the recording of “Give Peace A Chance.”  

Today in 1973, Deep Purple released their classic, “Smoke on the Water” as a single, over a year after it came out on their album, “Machine Head.”  

And happy birthday to Stevie Nicks, born today in 1948. In 2019, she became the first woman to be a double inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
