Today in Rock History with Chris DeCarlo

April 22 |

Eric Clapton was hospitalized today in 1981 following a car accident in Seattle. Just five days earlier, he’d been released from a hospital in St. Paul, suffering from stomach ulcers that caused him to cancel most of his current tour.

The Troggs released the single “Wild Thing” on this day in 1966. The garage rock classic would go on to top the charts in the US, and peak at #2 in Britain.

And Happy Birthday to Peter Frampton, who “Came Alive” today in 1950, which means he’s 72.
