Today in 1965, the Beatles single ‘Ticket to Ride’ was released in the US. The label said that the song was from their forthcoming film, “Eight Arms to Hold You.” By the time it hit theaters, it was renamed “Help!”
The first and only hit record from Patti Smith came out on this day in 1978, a previously unreleased Bruce Springsteen song, ”Because the Night.”
And in 1969, the band “Smile” played the Speakeasy in London. The trio included drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian May, who would form Queen the following year
