On this day in 1964, the Beatles’ first American album “Meet the Beatles” had sold more than 3 and a half million copies in just two months, making it the biggest seller in history at that time.  

In 1965, Eric Clapton quit The Yardbirds, arguing that the band’s new recording, “For Your Love,” was too commercial. Clapton, a self-declared blues purist, was right—it became the band’s first top ten hit. 

And Pink Floyd had another million-seller on this day in 1980 when their album “The Wall” was certified platinum
