Today in 1964, The High Numbers got a rejection letter from EMI Records. Less than a year later, they’d get picked up by Brunswick Records after changing their name to The Who.  

Today in 1969, Led Zeppelin II was released. Recorded at several studios while they were on tour, it was also their first album to hit #1 on both sides of the Atlantic.  

And celebrating a big birthday today is Leslie West, guitarist and vocalist for Mountain. He’s 75.
