Happy Birthday to Patrick Simmons. The Doobie Brothers’ founding guitarist and vocalist is 72.
In 1973, RCA Records released David Bowie’s covers album, “Pin-Ups,” a collection of mid-’60’s hits, including the Yardbirds’ “Shapes of Things,” and The Who’s “I Can’t Explain.”
In 1966, The Yardbirds–now featuring the two-guitar lineup of Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page—arrived in New York to start their first US Tour. Beck would leave the band before it was over.
