Today in 1970, Elton John broadcast an in-studio concert live from New York City. Elton, drummer Nigel Olssen and bassist Dee Murray played for about 100 fans. It became so popular as a bootleg, the label released it five months later as “11-17-70.”  

Today in 1973, the Who’s second rock opera, “Quadrophenia” entered the charts, eventually making it to #2 on both sides of the Atlantic.  

And Happy Birthday to Martin Barre longtime guitarist for Jethro Tull, who’s 75.
