On this day in 1974 John Lennon had his first #1 record as a solo artist, when the album “Walls and Bridges” and single, “Whatever Gets You Though the Night,” both hit the top of the charts.  

On this day in 1968, Jimi Hendrix was #1 on the Album charts with his double LP, “Electric Ladyland.”  

And today in 1978, Queen reproduced the promo stunt for their single, “Bicycle Race” onstage at Madison Square Garden. They were joined by 9 topless women–and their bicycles–during “Fat Bottomed Girls.”
