In 1974, the Rolling Stones released “It’s Only Rock & Roll,” their last album with lead guitarist Mick Taylor. Both the title track and their Temptations cover, “Ain’t too Proud to Beg” were hit singles.  

Paul Kantner of Jefferson Starship suffered a severe brain hemorrhage on this day in 1980, spending fifteen days in an L.A. hospital. The band was in the middle of recording their “Modern Times” LP at the time.  

And a superstar collaboration between David Bowie and Queen was unveiled on this day in 1981, when they released the single, “Under Pressure.”
