Today in Rock History with Chris DeCarlo

September 7 |

Happy Birthday to Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Chrissie Hynde, leader of The Pretenders, born in Akron, Ohio today in 1951.

Today in 1968, The New Yardbirds made their debut at a club in Denmark, kicking off their only tour under that name. Two months later, they’d be known as Led Zeppelin.

And The Who’s Keith Moon died in London on this day in 1978. The drummer, who was known as much for his off-stage antics as he was for his powerful and offbeat style, was just 32 years old.
