September 5 |

One of the greatest rock and roll front men of all time, the late Freddy Mercury of Queen, was born today in 1946.

On this day in 1981, Stevie Nicks had the nation’s top album with her solo debut, “Bella Donna.” The single, “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” with Tom Petty, was also high on the charts.

And today in 1970, Janis Joplin started recording her version of “Me and Bobby McGee.” Released after her death, it would go on to be her only #1 single.
